“Christ or Chaos”:
Challenge and Blessing in Perth and
Esperance
Press
Release
6th May 2006
‘Christ
or Chaos’ was the
challenging theme of this year’s Keswick Conventions in Perth and
Esperance, Western Australia, which commenced on April 21 2006 with
Jonathan James as the guest speaker.
Mr James, the
International Director of the Asia Evangelistic Fellowship spoke
passionately and powerfully of the fact that the Church in the 21st
Century is at the crossroads. “It can choose Christ and go with
him all the way or ignore Christ and invite chaos, anarchy,
degradation and destruction”, Mr James remarked.
Opening
with the message entitled “Jesus Christ in an
age of Pluralism” Jonathan, a noted preacher, author and
Gospel singer spoke of the uniqueness of Christ—how unlike other
religions, it is the unique Christ that makes the message of the
Gospel unique.
The Perth
convention was well attended with numbers ranging from 800-1000 at
the various meetings while the Esperance Convention attracted around
150-200 people.
At both
conventions lives were touched and several folk stood up to dedicate
themselves afresh during the prayer of commitment. Mr James’ message
on “The Cross- driven Life” was most moving and
several people remarked how they were greatly blessed by the
simplicity of the message and its refreshing adherence to the
historic, biblical tradition.
“Exalting
Christ among the Nations”
was the concluding message and again the irresistible challenge was
given that unless we evangelise the people of Australia and the
nations “our sin will find us out” (Numbers 32; 23).
Mr James quoted how the North African Church was a strong centre of
Christianity up till the 7th Century but because of its
failure to evangelise the Berber and Punic communities of its day
“the Church’s sin found them out and today North Africa is a
bastion of the Islamic faith closed to the Christian Gospel”
Mr James challenged.
All the
messages were recorded on CD and DVD formats and are available for
