It costs us about US $40- US $250 per month to support a national worker and family. National Workers in Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal and Vietnam are sharing the Gospel and planting Churches.

They need your help.

God at work in Myanmar

The Gospel is advancing in Myanmar (Burma) in spite of obstacles and hindrances.  AEF Myanmar has 27 national workers in the following areas: Yangon division , Shan State, Upper Burma and Irrawady division "But God is also opening new doors"  he added.

TRAINING

Our School of Missions and Evangelism (SOME) has completed its ninth session of Diploma in Evangelism training in May, 2001.  Several Christian leaders from the Wa tribe have been trained in this batch and sent back to their people to plant churches and minister the Gospel.  This is in conjunction with the Wa Baptist Convention of Burma.

AEF's new Asia College of Ministry (ACOM) will commence its ministry in October, 2002 to train the trainers for the SOME as well as other Bible school programmes.  This Ministry is endorsed by the Evangelical Fellowship om Myanmar, an umbrella body of Christian Churches and organisations.

In addition to this AEF provides specialised training to the leaders of 44 churches in Northern Burma who are under the Philadelphia Church Association.

INTEREST IN THE GOSPEL

In the last 4 months eight people have taken the step of baptism in the Yangon division.  In addition, a Buddist Abbot (high ranking Priest) heard our message through the "Destiny" radio programme and was moved by the concept of grace, sin and God's Sovereignty.  He brought two other monks to see our Director and all three are currently attending regular Bible Study on Tuesday's.  Burmese Bibles are presented to all who are baptised and those who request them for personal study.

Church Planting

Some 21 churches with a combined membership of 2,000 people in Chin State (North West Myanmar) have come under AEF banner recently.  Rev Khin Maung Thein (outgoing National Director) had helped the leaders previously.  The leaders made a special trip to Yangon to request AEF's help in evangelism, training and church - planting.  They asked if they could identify more fully with AEF's vision of pioneer evangelism and indigenous training and, as a result, are now part of the AEF family.  They are called Zo Htan Christian Churches.

Literature

In 1994 we translated and published, "The Man You Must Confront"  into the Burmese language.  These helpful booklets have been distrbuted in conjunction with our "Destiny"  programme as well as in street and village evangelistic endenvours.  They have been instrumental in leading many souls to Jesus Christ.

We are now looking to the Lord to reprint 10,000 copies for further use throughtout Myanmar.

Handing Over of Leadership

On 1st October 2001 Rev. Yo Tha was commissioned as National Director of AEF Myanmar.  He takes over from Rev. Khin Maung Thein who served for the last 10 years and continues as Chairman of the Board.  Rev. Yo Tha has been with AEF for the last 4 1/2 years.

Prase God for His work in Myanmar.  Let us be in prayer for the nation, the Christians, all the ministries and the speedy evangelisation of Myanmar.

"See I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut....." (Rev.3.8

Children's Work

Many of the Wa orphans who have been under our care in Yangon are now teenagers.  One of them is helping us in our Youth Division.  AEF continues to share its resources to help needy orpans in the home of Rev. Khin Maung Thein.  This is a time-consuming but very rewarding work.
