GOD'S
FAITHFULNESS IN INDONESIA
In spite
of severe hardships and economic, political
uncertainty, God continues to honour His word and
the work of His people in Indonesia.
Our
Director, Rev Suryono reports that our 12 field
missionaries in East and Central Java as well as
Kalimantan are much encouraged by the fruits of
their labour.
MAGICIAN
FINDS CHRIST
Singgih
was born into a family where, for generations
magic prevailed. Every day Singgih would
perform occultic dances known as "
Kuda Lumping" where he would enter into a
trance and give prophetic messages to
people. He widely sought after by the
people in Banyumas. David Budi, our AEF
Evangelist in Banyyumas City befriended Singgih,
his wife Karina and daughter Nita. David
shared Christ as the only deliverer, the true
Prophet and King.
After
three months of sharing and intense prayer and
fasting, Singgih and his family gave their hearts
to Jesus Christ and were baptised early this
January at the Java Christian Church in Central
Java. A big crowd gathered to witness this
marvellous transformation.
INTENSIVE TRAINING AND
DISCIPLESHIP
Evangelistic
and Trainer, David Eko and his wife Mary have
conducted several intensive training seminars on
evangelism and discipleship. At the
Karangpandan Church in Central Java they trained
810 people in the fundamentals of the Gospel and
at Srandon Church some 105 young people attended
the three-day session on discipleship. All
the trainees were also sent to do practical
training in nearby villages and churches.

INDIGENOUS TRAINING CENTRE
PLANNED
AEF
Indonesia conducted a very successful "
Train Native Evangelists" Conference last
year in Surabaya. Some 85 young evangelists
from various people groups gathered for the
two-day session.
According
to Rev. Suryono, the need for training is great
in Indonesia. "We need contextualised
training so our people can apply the claims of
Christ to the culture and the religious situation
here", Suryono says. Suryono's vision
is that AEF develops a modest training centre
where 20-30 evangelists can live in at one time
and be trained over a period of 15 months in
contexual evangelism, indigenous church planting
and discipleship.
Let us pray
for this vision to become a reality. Let us
pray for the evangelisation of Indonesia - that
the "word of the Lord" will
"spread widely and grow in power" (Acts
19:20).
A Training Session.

Church
Planting
Some 21 churches
with a combined membership of 2,000 people in Chin State (North
West Myanmar) have come under AEF banner recently. Rev
Khin Maung Thein (outgoing National Director) had helped the
leaders previously. The leaders made a special trip
to Yangon to request AEF's
help in evangelism, training and church - planting.
They asked if they could identify more fully with AEF's vision
of pioneer evangelism and indigenous training and, as a result,
are now part of the AEF family. They are called Zo Htan
Christian Churches.
Literature
In 1994 we
translated and published, "The Man You Must Confront"
into the Burmese language. These helpful booklets
have been distributed in conjunction with our "Destiny"
programme as well as in street and village evangelistic
endeavour.
They have been instrumental in leading many souls to Jesus
Christ.
We are now
looking to the Lord to reprint 10,000 copies for further use
throughout Myanmar.

Handing
Over of Leadership
On 1st October 2001 Rev.
Yo Tha was commissioned as National Director of AEF Myanmar.
He takes over from Rev. Khin Maung Thein who served for
the last 10 years and continues as Chairman of the Board.
Rev. Yo Tha has been with AEF for the last 4 1/2 years.
Prase God for His work
in Myanmar. Let us be in prayer for the nation, the
Christians, all the ministries and the speedy evangelisation
of Myanmar.
"See I have placed
before you an open door that no one can shut....."
(Rev.3.8)
Children's
Work
Many of
the Wa orphans who have been under our care in Yangon are
now teenagers. One of them is helping us in our Youth
Division. AEF continues to share its resources to
help needy orphans in the home of Rev. Khin Maung Thein.
This is a time-consuming but very
rewarding work.
