Profile of AEF
AEF is an indigenous and interdenominational faith mission founded in Singapore in 1960 by Dr G D James.
AEF is committed to reaching Asia for Christ through the ministry of national workers who are involved in evangelism and pioneer missions.
Uniqueness
AEF is not a "sending" mission - it recruits, trains and commissions national workers to carry out pioneer missionary work in their own countries in Asia. These national workers are organized, supervised and supported by national boards set up in each country under the direction of the AEF International Office. This is cost effective, culturally sensitive and viable missionary strategy for today. Besides being the most suited culturally and linguistically, national workers also require lesser support than overseas missionaries as they would not have additional costs involved in their children's education, furlough and cross-cultural studies etc. National workers are generally more effective in Asia's cultural and religious setting. In some countries where doors have been closed to foreign missionaries, this is the only strategy which works.
Ministry
Currently, AEF has some 200 national workers in the following countries: Burma (Myanmar), India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong/China.
Training
AEF trains its national workers in their own countries. We have modest training centres in Malaysia, India, Nepal, Myanmar.
Our Goals
- Developing new ministries among unreached people in Bhutan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
- Launching creative ministries in Vietnam and Cambodia.
- Consolidating the International Office of AEF in Australia and strengthening our fields in Asia.
The Means
AEF believes in keeping the incidentals and overheads as low as possible. It is our goal that the costs of administration will be covered by earmarked gifts from companies and individuals who have a keen interest in keeping goals trim. All special projects or expenses of a project nature are funded by sponsors as far as possible. Gifts from churches and Christians which are intended for the support of missionaries or evangelists in general are pooled and each worker receives his or her support on a unit system. Churches who support workers under the umbrella of AEF, or have "adopted" workers who serve in their own country, will have the fund channeled to the workers without any deduction for administration (if our overhead cost can be borne by sponsors). AEF believes in building a long term relationship with its supporters, a relationship based on mutual trust and accountability to God and each other. AEF will give regular updates of the workers ' ministry and projects to all supporters. There is a great need for prayer as AEF engages in spiritual warfare in winning Asians for Christ. Meetings for prayer and fellowship are held regularly. AEF also organizes mission trips for Christians to see the work being supported, first hand.
The Challenge
With doors closing to Western missionaries in some Asian countries, with rapid and major changes in other and in the light of the Lord's return, we need to mobilize Christians in Asia to reach out to their fellow men urgently.
Presently less than 5% of Asia has been reached with the gospel. With God's help and your involvement we seek to reach Asia for Christ in the most cost effective and efficient way.
